Surgical training & image guided surgery
The goal of this research line is the development of new techniques, methods and algorithms for the acquisition, processing and analysis of medical images and laparoscopic videos for MIS training, assessment and image guided surgical applications. This work is carried out in an interdisciplinary fashion with strategic partners across Europe, such as the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, SINTEF, the Delft University of Technology, Leiden University Medical Center or the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research

Thid research line mainly works in the field of patient care technologies, providing technological solutions for professionals and patients. Research activities include information systems for home monitoring; the integration of medical devices in telemedicine systems; the artificial pancreas; automatic data processing with artificial intelligence approaches; and decision support systems.
